Kim Kardashian and Lauren Sánchez got into a high-powered bidding war over Balenciaga at the Kering Foundation’s third annual Caring for Women dinner in New York.
Upping the drama, another bidder also wanted the same lot — and the bidding hit a whopping $175,000.
The lot included selecting a piece from Balenciaga Couture Collections presented in Paris, described as “an experience accessible to few.”
To translate for the fashion challenged, “couture” is, of course, making clothes to a client’s specifications.
Balenciaga explained in the program that the lot was “a timeless and pure expression of craft, providing an architecture to the silhouette that gives the wearer the strongest notion of elegance and sophistication.”
Sánchez, 54, and Kardashian, 43, also bid on the same lot last year and wound up both winning.
The night was co-hosted by Kardashian, as well as Salma Hayek and Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves, Carmelo Anthony, Priyanka Chopra, artist Urs Fischer, desiger Donatella Versace and Naomi Watts.
Gayle King was the night’s emcee, and guests also included Sanchez’s fiancé Jeff Bezos, Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry, Lindsay Lohan, Dakota Johnson, Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Kerry Washington and more.
Kering’s luxury fashion brands also include Gucci, Brioni, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen and others.
Fashion giant Kering created its foundation in 2008 to “combat gender-based violence and child abuse to disrupt the cycle of intergenerational violence.”
