 Former President Trump rolled up to the battleground state of Wisconsin in a garbage truck on Wednesday, an apparent reference to President Biden's remarks about supporters of the Republican nominee, which has caused a firestorm for Vice President Kamala Harris in the final days of a hotly contested election. 

Trump was pictured in Green Bay inside a white garbage truck wearing an orange reflective vest with "Trump Make America Great Again 2024" emblazoned on the vehicle. 

"How do you like my garbage truck?" Trump asked reporters. "This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden."

The stunt is an apparent dig at Biden, who has come under fire for calling Trump supporters garbage. 

During a virtual Harris campaign call with Voto Latino, Biden took a swipe at former Trump's weekend rally in Madison Square Garden, which made headlines after insult comedian Tony Hinchiffe made jokes mocking different ethnic groups, with one joke referring to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage."

"The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters," Biden said. "His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and it is un-American."

The comment quickly went viral and sparked swift condemnation from critics.

Biden's remarks were quickly compared to Hillary Clinton, who declared that Trump supporters were "deplorables" during the 2016 presidential race. 

 President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, who dressed as a giant panda, hosted trick-or-treaters on the White House South Lawn on Wednesday for the last time.

The first lady had participated in the National Zoo’s announcement earlier this year that pandas would be returning to Washington. They arrived in the nation’s capital in mid-October and Jill Biden donned the panda suit Wednesday as a “welcoming gesture,” the White House said.

Jill Biden added an educational theme to the event and named it “Hallo-Read” to help encourage reading. She has been a teacher for 40 years. Earlier Wednesday, she read a short story about spooky pumpkins to a group of costumed children gathered on the lawn.

She and the president later ventured outside at sunset and spent about an hour handing out treats. Biden, in a suit and tie, dropped boxes of White House Hershey’s Kisses chocolates in the kids’ tote bags while the first lady handed out copies of “10 Spooky Pumpkins.”

 The Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series champions after winning a thrilling Game 5 at Yankee Stadium.

After falling behind 5-0 early, the Dodgers took advantage of a miscue-filled fifth inning by the New York Yankees to even the score before finally pulling ahead in the eighth inning.

Dodgers: There might have been more talented Dodgers teams in this era. There have definitely been healthier ones. This one, though, was the most perseverant. And so it was fitting, perhaps, that on the night they clinched, the Dodgers overcame a five-run deficit and used eight relievers -- one of them a starting pitcher by trade -- to secure 23 outs in a come-from-behind victory over the Yankees in Game 5. The last of those relievers was Walker Buehler, the Game 3 starter who had been dreadful as a reliever throughout his career and had been six years removed from his last stint out of the bullpen.

When Buehler took the mound in the ninth inning, the Dodgers had taken advantage of a litany of Yankees mistakes to score five runs against a dominant Gerrit Cole in the top of the fifth and used back-to-back eighth-inning sacrifice flies by Gavin Lux and Mookie Betts to take their first lead. In the next half-inning, a tiring Blake Treinen had confronted a two-on, one-out situation and gotten out of it unscathed. And then Buehler came in and retired the bottom of the Yankees' lineup in order, securing the Dodgers' first championship since 2020 -- and their first full-season championship since 1988.

The 2024 Dodgers saw a litany of starting pitchers suffer season-ending injuries. On the night they clinched a division title, Freddie Freeman sprained his ankle. On the night they took a 2-0 lead in this World Series, Shohei Ohtani slightly dislocated his shoulder. They needed to stage a bullpen game to save their season against the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series and required a walk-off, Kirk-Gibson-style grand slam from Freeman to win the opening game of this World Series. Yankees: All year, right through the American League Championship Series, the Yankees masked a propensity for sloppiness with overwhelming talent. They were the worst baserunning team in the majors during the regular season. They regularly committed defensive miscues. They were not as fundamentally sound as one would expect for a team this good. But the Yankees boasted superstars. They banged home runs. They out-talented teams.

Until they couldn't.

Their shortcomings finally caught up with them in Game 5. A total meltdown of a fifth inning, one that will be remembered as one of the worst in World Series history, cost the Yankees their season. Aaron Judge flubbed a routine flyout for his first error of the entire year -- regular season or postseason. Anthony Volpe couldn't make an accurate throw to third base. Gerrit Cole didn't cover first base on what would've been an inning-ending groundout, opening the floodgates. From there, the Dodgers scored five runs to tie the game. The Yankees retook the lead even after all of this, but fumbled it away again in the eighth inning.

It was that fifth inning that really cost the Yankees a chance to hop on a flight to Los Angeles and continue their attempt to become the first team to overcome a 3-0 deficit to win the World Series. Their talent won out against the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Guardians in October. The Dodgers were too good for that to happen again. -- Jorge Castillo

Lasting impression of this World Series: The 120th World Series ended with the Los Angeles Dodgers in a pile on the mound and the New York Yankees stunned by an all-time awful fifth inning that allowed the Dodgers to win their eighth championship. The two-error frame, compounded by one mental blunder, will live in infamy as one of the worst half-innings in Yankees history, turning a 5-0 lead into a 5-5 game. It also speaks to a series won on the margins.

The Dodgers scored 25 runs to the Yankees' 24. New York outhomered, outhit and outwalked Los Angeles. And yet the Dodgers won the Series in convincing fashion, over five games, because they were better in close contests. It took a walk-off grand slam in Game 1, 4-2 wins in Games 2 and 3 and a 7-6 nailbiter in Game 5, but the Dodgers didn't make any enormous mistakes, and the Yankees handed them gift after gift in the deciding game.

The battle of superteams and superstars went to the Dodgers and Shohei Ohtani. He won his first World Series, even as he barely contributed. Freddie Freeman tormented Yankees pitchers all series and is the clear MVP. Tommy Edman, acquired at the trade deadline, followed his NLCS MVP performance with another excellent showing. Teoscar Hernández was clutch, too.

 Flash floods in eastern Spain swept away cars, turned village streets into rivers, disrupted rail lines and highways and killed at least 72 people in the worst natural disaster to hit the European nation in recent memory.

Rainstorms that started Tuesday and continued Wednesday caused flooding in a wide swath of southern and eastern Spain, stretching from Malaga to Valencia. Muddy torrents tumbled vehicles down streets at high speeds, while pieces of wood swirled in the water alongside household items. Police and rescue services used helicopters to lift people from their homes and rubber boats to reach drivers stranded on the roofs of cars.

Emergency services in the eastern region of Valencia confirmed a death toll of 70 people on Wednesday. Another two casualties were reported in the neighboring Castilla La Mancha region.

Yesterday was the worst day of my life,” Ricardo Gabaldón, the mayor of Utiel, a town in Valencia, told national broadcaster RTVE on Wednesday. He said six residents of his town had perished and several more were unaccounted for.

Searchers worked to find survivors and victims, with countless numbers still missing. Spain’s government said it would declare three days of mourning starting Thursday for those killed in the devastating flash floods.

 Super Micro Computer (SMCI) stock plunged Wednesday after the data center specialist revealed in a regulatory filing that its accounting firm resigned over financial reporting concerns.

Super Micro disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday that Ernst & Young had resigned as the company's registered public accounting firm as of Oct. 24.

In late July 2024, EY communicated to the Audit Committee concerns about several matters relating to governance, transparency and completeness of communications to EY, and other matters pertaining to the Company's internal control over financial reporting, and that the timely filing of the Company's annual report was at significant risk," the SEC filing said.

In response to EY's concerns, Super Micro's board appointed an independent special committee to review the matters. The special committee hired law firm Cooley LLP and forensic accounting firm Secretariat Advisors to perform an investigation.

EY said additional information received during the review process raised questions about whether the company was committed to integrity and ethical values. In particular, EY questioned whether the audit committee and overall board could act as an oversight body that is independent of the chief executive and other members of management.

In its resignation letter, EY said, "We are resigning due to information that has recently come to our attention which has led us to no longer be able to rely on management's and the Audit Committee's representations and to be unwilling to be associated with the financial statements prepared by management, and after concluding we can no longer provide the Audit Services in accordance with applicable law or professional obligations."

Super Micro Stock Takes A Plunge

In morning trades on the stock market today, Super Micro stock plummeted more than 27% to 35.55.

Super Micro shares reached an all-time high of 122.90 on March 8.

Concerns about the company's financial reporting and internal controls surfaced on Aug. 27 when short seller Hindenburg Research accused Super Micro of accounting manipulation, export control failures, customer issues and other problems. The next day, Super Micro announced a delay in filing its annual 10-K report with the SEC.

Mizuho Securities analyst Vijay Rakesh reiterated his neutral rating and price target of 45 on Super Micro stock on Wednesday.

"SMCI currently has a listing noncompliance letter from Nasdaq dated Sept. 17," Rakesh said in a client note. "We believe this notice gives SMCI 60 days (Nov. 16) to present a plan to return to compliance with Nasdaq requirements or face delisting (the second instance in the last 5 years)."

The lack of an auditor and the tight timeline to reach compliance with Nasdaq rules raise the prospect of Super Micro getting delisted from the exchange, he said.

Meanwhile, rival Dell Technologies (DELL) is likely to gain share in the AI server market during the period of uncertainty, Rakesh said.

Dell stock rose 6.7% to 129.77 in morning trades on Wednesday.

 Dustin Hoffman is remembering his late costar Teri Garr.

In a statement to the New York Post published Tuesday, Oct. 29, the 87-year-old actor paid his respects to his Tootsie costar, who died on Tuesday at the age of 79.

“Teri was brilliant and singular in all she did, and had a heart of gold,” Hoffman said in his statement to the outlet. “Working with her was one of the great highs."

"There was no one like her," he added.

The actress was known for her roles of Inga in 1974's Young Frankenstein and Sandy Lester in 1982’s Tootsie alongside Hoffman’s Michael Dorsey.

The latter film tells the story of Michael, an unemployed actor who disguises himself as a woman named Dorsey for a drama. However, things take a turn when he falls in love with his costar Julie Nichols, played by actress Jessica Lange.

Garr received a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for her work in Tootsie. The romantic comedy later inspired a stage musical, which hit Broadway in 2019.

Santino Fontana took over the role of Michael on the Great White Way, while Lilli Cooper played Julie and Sarah Stiles played Garr's movie role of Sandy.

Speaking about her Academy Award nod in her 2005 memoir Speedbumps: Flooring it Through Hollywood, Garr wrote, per the New York Post, “I was proud. The Academy not only knew I existed, they thought I was good!”

She also previously spoke about how her mother, Phyllis Lind Garr, helped secure her role as the assistant of Dr. Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) in Young Frankenstein.

“My mother was the wardrobe woman on Young Frankenstein,” the actress told PBS in 2012. “I asked her if they’d finished casting, and she said she didn’t know.”

Garr asked her agent to get her an audition, and after four rounds of auditions, she was cast. “It was unbelievable," she said.
