US, Canadian hockey stars get into numerous fights in opening seconds of 4 Nations rivalry after anthem boos

February 15, 2025 0

Three fights broke out in the first nine seconds of a 4 Nations Face-Off game between the U.S. and Canada Saturday.

At the opening puck drop, Matthew Tkachuk of the U.S. and Canada's Brandon Hagel didn't wait to drop the gloves.

Just two seconds later, Matthew's brother, Brady, went toe-to-toe with Sam Bennett, who is NHL teammates with Matthew with the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.

That wasn't all. After an opening rush into the Canadian zone, a scrap involving just about everyone broke out, and J.T. Miller and Colton Parayko got into a fight of their own.

The penalty boxes filled up, but cooler heads eventually prevailed.

The game was being played in Montreal, so the tensions in the crowd were already high. The "Star-Spangled Banner" was booed loudly despite pleas from the public-address announcer to "respect" both nations' anthems.

Even NHL exec Bill Daly called it an "unfortunate situation" and hoped it would end.

This is the first time since 2016 that the U.S. and Canada are on the ice in a best-on-best format since 2016 in the World Cup of Hockey, which will return in 2028 after a 12-year hiatus.

Both teams won their first games of the tournament, but the United States is ahead in the standings due to its win coming in regulation. Canada needed overtime to defeat Sweden Thursday.

Canada got on the board first, with Connor McDavid lighting the lamp roughly 5½ minutes into the game. Jake Guentzel tied it up a few minutes later.

The U.S. ultimately beat Canada 3-1, wrapping up a spot in the tournament's championship game. With the win, the Americans clinch a spot in the one-game final on Thursday in Boston, and they could face Canada again.

Emma Watson Makes Rare Public Appearance at NBA All-Star Celebrity Game

February 15, 2025 0

Harry Potter star Emma Watson stepped out for the 2025 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game Feb. 14 amid her ongoing literature studies at Oxford University. The Harry Potter star, who is currently completing her masters degree in literature at Oxford University in England, made a rare public appearance when she stepped out at the 2025 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Oakland, Calif., Feb. 14.

In a video posted on ESPN’s TikTok page, the 34-year-old—dressed casually in a black T-shirt and matching pants—beamed as she waved and blew kisses to a spectator before having a brief courtside chat with EDM musician Tucker Halpern, who played in the star-studded face-off alongside Noah Kahan and Pablo Schreiber.

Emma has kept a relatively low profile since taking up her studies. Back in July, the Beauty and the Beast actress stepped out in the English suburb of Jericho for a PDA-filled date with Kieran Brown, a PhD student whom she met at Oxford, according to the Daily Mail.

In addition to sparking up a new romance, Emma shared that she also gained valuable life experience by stepping away from acting to pursue her education“I'm just so glad that I did,” she told British Vogue in December 2023, “because I have this feeling of having my own voice and creative space and sovereignty in some way that I don't think I did before—more autonomy.”

And while the leap into academia may have been daunting, Emma made it clear the move was well worth the risk.

Daniel Radcliffe

The boy who played Harry Potter is ever grateful for the role that knocked down all the doors for him, but he's also been busy scrubbing any child-star residue from his acting image, starting with his raw, nudity-requiring Broadway debut in Equus in 2007. He followed that up with the more chipper How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in 2011. For years he has alternated between theater (The Cripple of InishmaanRosencrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead) and film (The Woman in BlackVictor Frankenstein), leaning heavily into the dramatic and/or the absurd.

To be sure, if there's some dark humor to be found, Radcliffe is into it, whether on TV playing a morphine-addicted physician in A Young Doctor's Notebook or a low-level angel trying to prevent God from ending the world in Miracle Workers—or playing a flatulent corpse in 2016's Swiss Army Man. Since then, he played the villain opposite Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum in their 2022 rom-com The Lost City and portrayed musician "Weird Al" Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, a biographical parody film.

Sober since 2010, Radcliffe has also been open about drinking to excess back when the Harry Potter franchise was nearing its finish and, already more famous than he ever dreamed, he was anxious about his next step in life.

"In my case, the quickest way to forget about the fact that you're being watched is to get very drunk," he said on Off Camera With Sam Jones in 2019.

"And then as you get very drunk, you become aware that, 'Oh, people are watching more now because now I'm getting very drunk, so I should probably drink more to ignore that more.'"

Radcliffe has been in a relationship with actress Erin Darke since meeting her on the set of 2013's Kill Your Darlings, in which he played "Howl" poet Alan Ginsberg

Emma Watson

The Paris-born and Oxfordshire-raised kid had no more than a few school plays on her resume when she was cast as Hermione Granger, her first professional acting job. After completing the seven films, Watson split her time between college at Brown University (she graduated in 2014 with a degree in English literature) and starring in indie movies such as The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Bling Ring. The latter of which saw her breaking out of her rule-abiding Hermione shell as part of a band of privileged but maladjusted young thieves who start stealing clothes, jewelry and cash from celebrity homes.

MAGA Influencer, 26: Elon Musk Has Fathered 13th Kid With Me

February 15, 2025 0

Ashley St. Clair and Elon Musk

She wrote, “Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father. I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause.”

St. Clair ended her statement with a request for the media to honor their child’s privacy and refrain from invasive reporting. The statement was accompanied by a Latin phrase, “Alea iacta est,” which means “The die is cast.” It is unclear which media outlet or story prompted St. Clair to publish her statementConservative figures like Jack Posobiec, his wife Tanya Tay, Mike Cernovich and Candace Owens all sent St. Clair their support via X.

“Children should always be off limits,” wrote right-wing commentator Owens, who has long been plagued by accusations of antisemitism, before adding: “Journalists are parasites.” In response to Cernovich’s comment that “There is no low that they [the media] won’t go to,” St. Clair responded, “Doxxing a baby is pretty bottom of the barrel.”

Musk, who has yet to confirm St. Clair’s news, is already a father of 12 children with three women. The DOGE director has six children with his first wife, Justine; three with musician Grimes; and three with former Neuralink director of operations Shivon Zilis—the youngest of whom was born in June 2024.

Grimes—the mother of X Æ A-12, who has recently been photographed visiting the Oval Office with Musk—has been using X (the social media platform) to express her discomfort with Musk using their son as a prop, writing, “He should not be in public like this,” in response to their son’s latest appearance at the White House. In addition, internet sleuths have found a tweet from Musk to St. Clair sent in response to a November 2023 tweet in which she said, “Stopping birth control and Adderall was one of the best things I ever did for my mental health. So many Americans on pharmaceutical cocktails and then wondering why they feel out of their minds.” Musk’s response was a simple, “For sure.”

St. Clair has since published a follow-up statement thanking supporters for the kind words and adding, “Wish I did not feel the need to make a statement. Kids should be off limits for journalists.”

The Daily Beast has reached out to Musk, via his lawyer, for comment.
