Kim Richards Was Placed on Psych Hold, Law Enforcement Called After Dispute with Sister Kyle Richards amid Relapse

Kim Richards is reportedly facing struggles after years of being candid abo

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirms to PEOPLE that law enforcement reported to an incident on Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the Encino area where a source tells PEOPLE Kyle owns a home that Kim had recently been staying in.

The LAPD tells PEOPLE officers responded to "keep the peace" after a female reportedly violated a restraining order. However, after an investigation, they determined there was no order on file and no crime was committed.

"Both parties were informed of eviction process and officers kept the peace," added officials, who could not confirm Kim and Kyle's involvement in the scuffle.

A manager for Kim and Kyle has not responded to requests for comment from PEOPLE.

According to TMZ, earlier this month Kim, 60, was staying in a Hilton hotel until she was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold and taken to a hospital for her "incoherent" behavior. After her release, Kyle, 55, reportedly allowed Kim to stay in her home to help her get back on her feet.

The outlet reports that the family has cut off all contact with Kim in hopes the shut-out will help her get sober again.

Over the years, the reality star has been open about her struggles with alcohol addiction. Her journey with sobriety has long been documented on RHOBH.

In 2010, Kyle famously outed Kim to be an alcoholic in the first season of the longtime Bravo show. A year later, the actress entered rehab and then again in April 2015 following her arrest for public intoxication. She left a Malibu treatment facility for her daughter’s nuptials in May 2015, but checked herself back in two weeks later.

In March 2016, Kim told PEOPLE that she had her "first real drink" when she was 24 years old and her addiction began when she split from her second husband, Gregg Davis in 1991. She recalled drinking a glass of wine at night, which soon escalated into more. “I started noticing I was drinking a lot,” she said at the time. “That’s when my issue started.”

A few months later in December, Kim opened up about feeling gratitude for her sobriety. At the time, she had been five years sober.

“Before I started the show, life was really good and then, you know, things happened and it wasn’t,” she told PEOPLE. “And it wasn’t just my relapse that was hard, but I went through a depression as well after that.”

“I’m just so grateful to be where I am today, and to be this happy and have life this good and have the relationships that I have … I feel so blessed,” she said. “I feel powerful. I feel so grateful. Honestly. Life is so amazing today. I wake up happy. I go to sleep happy.”

Helene death toll rises; 2+ feet of rain in some areas

Dozens killed. Hospital-goers scrambling to rooftops to be whisked away in helicopters. Mayors frantically telling citizens to flee. And inmates desperately removed from a jail directly in the path of floodwaters.

Helene has brought a cascade of destruction across the Southeast. The record-breaking storm hit Florida as a hurricane with wind speeds of 140 mph that flattened buildings. It has since weakened to a post-tropical cyclone with 25 mph winds, but the deluge of rain it carries is leaving parts of North Carolina and Tennessee underwater, and some 3.8 million are without power Saturday morning.

“It’s destroyed,” Jordon Bowen of the Florida State Guard Special Missions Unit told The Palm Beach Post, part of the USA TODAY Network, about the area where Helene made landfall. “Not accessible, debris, lots of hazards, downed power lines, houses cut in half.

Meanwhile, eye-popping rainfall totals were measured in the North Carolina mountains, including 29.6 inches at Busick and 24.2 inches at Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi River and a landmark along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Helene made landfall at about 11:10 p.m. ET Thursday near Perry, Florida, becoming the first known Category 4 storm to hit Florida’s Big Bend region since records began in 1851. The storm continued its push across western Kentucky on Saturday, and is expected to slowly move southeast, then east along the Kentucky-Tennessee border through the weekend, the National Hurricane Center said.

At least 43 people have died under Helene’s onslaught as of late Friday, according to authorities and media reports across the Southeast. Officials have said they expect the death toll to keep rising as they go door-to-door in the aftermath of the storm. Millions lost power and many lost their homes altogether or suffered extensive damage to their properties.

The destruction brought by Helene will continue to unfold even after its passing as the water it dumped flows into populated areas. But millions of people are beginning to take stock of what the storm took from them.

A confluence of weather patterns over the eastern U.S. set up the historic flooding that forced people from their homes in the dead of night Friday along the Nolichucky River in Tennessee, as officials warned of dam failures and raging torrents ravaged communities.

Maggie Smith, Iconic Harry Potter and Downton Abbey Star and Two-Time Oscar Winner, Dies at 89

Dame Maggie Smith, one of the world’s most distinguished actresses, has died. She was 89.

Her sons, Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin, confirmed the news on Friday, Sept. 27, saying in a statement via publicist Clair Dobbs, "It is with great sadness we have to announce the death of Dame Maggie Smith."

"She passed away peacefully in hospital early this morning, Friday 27th September," they continued. "An intensely private person, she was with friends and family at the end. She leaves two sons and five loving grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother."

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their care and unstinting kindness during her final days," Stephens and Larkin added.

The brothers concluded, "We thank you for all your kind messages and support and ask that you respect our privacy at this time."

Smith, who appeared in over 50 films, won two Academy Awards for The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) and California Suite (1978). She also nabbed four Golden Globe Awards and had four additional Oscar nominations.

The actress was well-known for her portrayals of Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter film series, as well as Violet Crawley in the Downton Abbey series.

Born in Ilford, England, in 1934, Smith made her stage debut in 1952, playing Viola in a stage production of Twelfth Night. Her career spanned over 70 years, and included starring roles in television, film and theater.

Smith’s first film credit was in an uncredited appearance in 1956’s Child in the House, which she followed with a larger role in the crime drama Nowhere to Go in 1959.

A decade later, Smith won her first Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal as an idealistic and unorthodox school teacher in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Her second Academy Award came almost a decade later, for California Suite.

In 1990, the actress won a Tony Award for Lettice and Lovage. That same year, she was made a dame by Queen Elizabeth II, for her contributions to the performing arts.

In that period of time, Smith starred in several high-profile films including Sister Act (1992), Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993), Hook (1991) and Tea with Mussolini (1999).

Smith introduced herself to a new generation of moviegoers in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as Professor Minerva McGonagall: no-nonsense transfiguration teacher, head of Gryffindor house and, later, Hogwarts headmistress. The 2001 blockbuster movie spawned seven more films, with Smith reprising her beloved role in each one.

She continued acting and showing off her range in the popular BBC series Downton Abbey playing the Dowager Countess Violet Crawley, for which she won three Emmy Awards.

Speaking about her reputation, Smith once said, "It’s true I don’t tolerate fools, but then they don’t tolerate me, so I am spiky," according to the Associated Press.

'“Maybe that’s why I’m quite good at playing spiky elderly ladies," she quipped in addition.

Smith also spoke about the added mainstream fame she gained from her Downton Abbey role to The Telegraph in a 2014 interview, saying, “That’s never happened to me before,” when she explained fans had taken to recognizing her on the street.

“It’s television that does it. It was awful. I love wandering around on my own and I just couldn’t,” she said. “I don’t go places, and if I do I nearly always have to have a friend. It’s very difficult when you’re on your own because you have no escape.”

When asked about her legacy after being awarded the Evening Standard Icon Award for her work in theatre, Smith told the publication, “Everything’s an icon. If you have been around long enough you are an icon. A rather dusty icon, or a national treasure.”

The actress continued working in films such as The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and The Lady in the Van. Her final role in a film released before her death was as Lily Fox in 2023's The Miracle Club.

Smith had two sons, Stephens and Larkin, whom she shared with her ex-husband, actor Robert Stephens. The two married in 1967 and divorced in 1975.

She married playwright Beverley Cross in 1975 and they remained married until his death in March 1998. When asked if she was lonely in a rare interview on 60 Minutes in 2013, Smith replied, “It seems a bit pointless, going on one’s own and not having someone to share it with.”

The star told The Telegraph she used work to keep her mind occupied.

“They say it goes away but it doesn’t,” she said of grieving over the loss of Cross. “It just gets different. It’s awful, but what do you do? After the busyness, you are more alone, much more. A day that is absolutely crowded keeps your mind away from why you are alone but when it stops there is that deafening silence.”

Smith is survived by her sons and five grandchildren.

Sky Fire HC Teresa Weatherspoon; Coached Angel Reese in WNBA Rookie Season

The Chicago Sky have fired head coach Teresa Weatherspoon after just one season at the helm, per the Chicago Sun-Times' Annie Costabile.

The Sky finished 13-27 and missed the postseason for the first time since 2018.

According to Costabile, players were "outwardly supportive" of the first-year head coach throughout the season, but exit interviews revealed a "disconnect."

"Multiple players noted the changing play style throughout the year and mentioned the learning curve of being a first-year coach," Cosabile wrote.

The Sky were in a playoff position for much of the season and had a chance to clinch a postseason berth late in the year, but Chicago lost 12 of its last 14 games to seal its fate.

While players noted the disconnect between Weatherspoon and her roster, the Sky also dealt with circumstances out of their control, namely the many different injuries throughout the season. Chicago played only two games with a fully healthy roster and star rookie Angel Reese sustained a season-ending injury in early September.

Reese was outspoken on social media following Weatherspoon's firing.

"You had a tough job. All the crazy circumstances that we went through this year and when your back was against the wall, you always believed," Reese wrote on X. "I came to Chicago because of YOU. You were an unsung hero in my life."

It was just three seasons ago the Sky won their first WNBA championship, but it has since faced a number of setbacks. James Wade, who led Chicago to a title as the team's coach and general manager, departed midway through the 2023 season and the Sky faced a first-round exit in the playoffs.

The Sky had an unsuccessful offseason in the free agency market, ultimately leading to star guard Kahleah Copper requesting a trade before the start of the regular season.

Though things seem bleak for Chicago at the moment, it has a young roster that seems to be on its way to a bright future.

In the backcourt, 25-year-old Chennedy Carter led the way for the Sky behind 17.5 points per game. Reese, whose play in 2024 likely would have led to a Rookie of the Year award had it not been for Caitlin Clark, pairs well with fellow rookie Kamilla Cardoso in the front court.

Chicago will now begin another coaching search as it looks to find the right person to guide a talented young group in a new era of Sky basketball.

Jelly Roll wasn't able to attend this year's PCCAs due to his previously scheduled Boston tour date, but Machine Gun Kelly still played their collaboration, "Lonely Road."

MGK closed the show with the performance, playing a guitar shaped like a razor blade as he sang through the track. Once he was done, the "Papercuts" performer remained on stage, starstruck as Shania Twain said her goodbyes.

"I just love you," Twain told MGK. "One of my favorite songs ever."

Following Kane Brown's "Fiddle in the Band" performance earlier in the evening, he returned to the stage to accept the country champion award from Bailey Zimmerman, who handed him the trophy.

Miranda Lambert received the country icon award at the 2024 PCCAs and delivered a performance of her early hit "Kerosene" and recent single "Dammit Randy."

While accepting the honor, Lambert acknowledged how "weird" it feels to be considered an icon, as she'd hold artists like Jerry Jeff Walker, Merle Haggard, Guy Clark and Jon Prine in that regard. "Those are my icons," she said.

"So, the fact that I get this award tonight is just blowing my mind. It's a lot of years, tears, beers and Tito's, if I'm being honest," added Lambert with a laugh.

Kelsea Ballerini Teases a ‘Lot of Drama’ to Come from Her 2024 PCCAs Performance

Kelsea Ballerini walked the carpet in a Roberto Cavalli and teased "a lot of drama" to come from her performance of "Two Things" from her upcoming album, PATTERNS.

She detailed the upcoming 15-track project, out Oct. 25, at the 2024 PCCAs in an interview with comedian Heather McMahan on E! Live from the Red Carpet — and touched on how her boyfriend, Chase Stokes, has impacted her life.

"The whole record really does cover all of, truly, the relational patterns that I had to assess in my life. I'm 31 now, I'm in a beautiful relationship, and when you're in a good relationship, it really mirrors you, so you have to really assess yourself and then the other person, vice versa," said Ballerini. "I think there's a lot of that kind of intricacy within the record."

The musician, who's up for four awards at the ceremony, then spoke about her "Two Things" performance, telling the TV program, "It will be a lot of sunflowers, a lot of New York, a lot of drama, baby."

The 2024 PCCAs nominations were unveiled on Aug. 14. Zach Bryan led with the most nods, followed by other top nominees including Beyoncé, Kacey Musgraves, Shaboozey, Kane Brown, Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs.
